Pings not working
I've noticed for about a week now that when I update a post my pings don't seem to work. None of the readers or blogrolling picks up when I update. I've checked my list of blogs to ping and it seems to be up to date. Does anyone have any ideas?
I want to make sure all of you know when I update with words of wisdom and insight.

The same thing has been happening with me, only it's been for much longer than a week. About the time you think it doesn't work at all, it shows up.
Kinda like comments have been...

Umm maybe it's the operator instead of the system? Just my 2 cents

Munu, like Blogger, has a disadvantage when it comes to "pings". It's got to do with all blogs from a certain domain that try to ping blog rolling, etc. I can't remember exactly, but it seems to be a failing of these ping sites not allowing more than a certain number of pings at a time. So, it updates strangely.
This means I often check these blogs directly if I expected a post and didn't see any new ones listed. Although the posts do show up in my feed reader later in the day it can take up to 12 hours.

you can ping by hand, and it works just fine.
This one is for Blogrolling. And
this one is for Technorati.... Between these two it will hit most of the various readers.

To answer Teresa, each of these services only accepts one automated ping every 30 minutes or so per domain as an anti spam measure. But the hand entered ones you can ping every 5 minutes.

Hey, if I could just get Fluffy off my case I would be happy. Seriously.

Can you read me now?
IÂ’ve received a couple of complaints from local readers that they can only display .Mu.Nu sites occasionally. They all seem to have the same internet provider, so IÂ’m not sure if itÂ’s them or us. If you read this and have had this problem, please leave a comment or e-mail me. Thanks!

If it's Insight I have answers. I had issues with that so I asked for help. It's just a matter of modifying the DSN.

Well, I can read you *now*... ;^)
As for modifying the DSN -- uhhh... what?

I'm guessing it's the provider because I've had no problems at all from multiple locations and computers.

How can one comment about not seeing you if they can't see you?

Insight... if it is, let me know. I can send them the directions on what to do. It's really frickin' easy...

It was down all morning - I tried to find your sitemeter to see if there were any Insight hits earlier in the day but couldn't find it. I wanted to know if it was just me.

Okay, I found it - it hadn't loaded all the way. There do seem to be spans of time when you have no insightbb visitors but I don't know your usual pattern.

One Problem Solved.
I discovered what my problem was with my template.... It wasn't the template it was the settings in my MT config. Once I corrected that the rest just fell into place.... I would like to give a thank you to both
Ogre and
CalTechGirl for the offer of help.
Now if anyone could assist me in figuring out how to get my side bar on all of my archive pages I would appreciate it. No matter what I do, it doesn't seem to end up in the right place. Same offer as before, all kinds of link love, praise and top billing for the first person that helps me get it where it need to go. If I figure it out on my own then nothing changes!

I need to do that too, put my sidebar on all my archive pages. I also need to bring my archives over. I hate blog maintenance. Really truly frickin' hate it.

There are two tag types in my template which contain stuff, MainPage and MainOrArchivePage. If you have things in the MainPage section, they only show on the main page. If they are in MainOrArchivePage then they show when a single post, an archive page, or the main page is shown. At least that's how it works in Blogger.

Oh ... and then you will need to republish your blog to get the data propogated ;-)

Crap, I did something wrong.
Okay, from the crappy look/design of my site you can tell that I'm doing the work on here myself and that I don't have a lot of experience with HTML. Well, I just discovered the other day while writing a my first post about going to sensitivity class that I somehow screwed up my template. I don't know what I did and can't figure out how to fix it. So I'm looking for someone that has some serious skills with Movable Type and HTML to help me.
Since I'm shy, I just can't bring myself to start e-mailing people that I think might be able to help me. Especially if I've never once stepped foot on their blog. If anyone reads this and thinks they might be willing to help me please leave a comment. To whomever actually fixes my problem I will give you an insane amount of praise and linkage, Including a top billing on my side bar with credits praise and maybe even something that describes you as a deity of the internet!

What's the problem? I can't see anything noticably wrong...
Looks just as crappy as usual.

Yup. Looks pretty normal to me, too. (using Firefox).
The only weird thing I've noticed is that in the RSS feed template when you want to read a comment, it loads the category page in a new window...but I didn't want to try and explain that to you just now...

if it's a design issue (things in funny places/disappeared) I can help, but you've got to tell me what's wrong.... I don't see anything.

Looks like it's all there, although I can't say that I often scroll farther down than the first couple of posts while I read.

Syndication RSS/XML
Okay, I've said I was building this site myself. I was not going to ask for help. Well I ran across a situation no matter how much I research I've not been able to find a solution to. How do I add an RSS/XML syndication feed to this site? So far I'm not getting anywhere. If any of you know how I go about this, please share the info with me. Thanks!

But, ummmm, I can't get mine to work either, so I guess I can't help much

I am in netscape right now and I have you listed as an RSS feed in the URL bar. Is it automatic?
